This week in my microbiology class, we were sent out to go find some bacteria. Where would you better be able to find some bacteria than in…the dumpster? That’s what a few friends and I did.
Check out this picture–we had our lab coats on and with a swab in hand, we were ready to go.
We then put the bacteria on a medium for it grow, incubated it, and this is now going to be a semester long project: we are going to identify this bacteria throughout our time in the lab. This certainly won’t be the only thing we do in the microbiology lab, but it should be interesting to see what we ended up snatching!
My name is Matt Stewart and I’m a chemistry student. I’m excited to be a student blogger representing the sciences at Franciscan University of Steubenville for this next academic year. Franciscan has provided some pretty incredible opportunities for me the past couple years. I am excited to see what God does with our work, and I look forward to sharing more and keeping you updated.
