Coming back to school is always exciting. You get to reunite with your friends after not seeing them the entire summer, and start living on your own again. It’s such a joyous time of year. But also stressful- I don’t know about you guys, but the beginning of the year can be overwhelming. Syllabus week is like a continuous feeling of getting hit square on the face by a bus. And buying books leaves you with your bank account crying and identifying as a “broke college student” once again.
So yeah, there’s a balance. And amidst all the busy-ness, I realized there is so much going on that sometimes we forget to appreciate the little things- like friars scooping ice cream for you, flowers around the rosary circle, or the blue sky without a cloud in it and warm weather. Someone once told me to “waste time with the people you love” and I still think about that phrase all the time. Take the time to appreciate the people and instances around you that bring you joy- that you may become more joyful.
