I write to you with great excitement today as I bask in the satisfaction of my New York Giants winning the Superbowl. I am from New Jersey where the New York Giants play, so I was anticipating the big game and it lived up to its hype. A couple of my friends who live in Assisi Heights, the apartments on campus, invited me over to their place to watch the game. Chips, dip, wings, a TV, and a room full of friends makes for a great time when watching the Superbowl. The fans were evenly divided amongst the Giants and the Patriots, which made it even more fun because we were able to give each other a hard time, all in good fun. It was a great way to lead into the start of a new week.
The class assignments are starting to pick up as we go deeper into the semester. Homework and quizzes are making their way into my everyday schedule and tests are right around the corner. I am trying to prepare myself for when the time comes, so I have been spending some more quality time in the library (one of my favorite places on campus, seriously!) I need to go there when I have to study because my dorm room is a little too crazy. I come to my room for more of a social atmosphere. It is a lot of fun in the dorms and I don’t mind that, but the library is where I go into study mode.
Aside from classes, this was a great past week of events. On campus, there is a student event group called “Exc!te.” They run events on campus for the students to come together and partake in. It can be a movie shown on a big screen, a dance, a concert, or something of that nature. They just held an event, “Wing and Sing” where they brought in wings from one of the nearby wing places and held a karaoke night. The best part is that it’s free! Free food, drinks, and a little karaoke sounds like a fantastic time to me.
On this theme of events, one of my friends held a concert this weekend in his house. There are many talented musicians here at Franciscan, and this was an opportunity for some of them to show their skills. It was actually really cool; they turned the house into a little music venue. To my surprise, it was like a friendly reunion. Everyone came out to support our friends who were performing that night. It was very enjoyable to be able to come together to hang out and listen to some good music.
These are some of the great things that are going on here. There is much more to come and I can’t wait to share it with you.
Hi I’m Chris Pagano. I’m is a Business Finance major with a minor in Theology. I love to spend my busy days enjoying various activities on campus: household, swing dancing, studies, and much more. Each semester helps me to learn and grow in my life in many different ways and I am looking forward to seeing what this one holds.
