Happy Spring to all,
Coming back to 75 degree weather in the Ohio Valley after spring break was a very pleasant surprise. When the weather gets nice, campus perks up a bit. People are outside hanging out, throwing Frisbees, and playing music – it is definitely springtime at Franciscan. I am very thankful that I haven’t had to spend too much time in the library studying and am able to enjoy this weather, but the winds are changing. I have four tests coming up before the Easter break, which starts on April 5. This week, I have a test in Business Stats II and Macroeconomics. Next week, I will have Intermediate Accounting II and Intermediate Corporate Finance. I had a very relaxing spring break so I feel rejuvenated and ready to hit the books.
I have been informing you of my intramural basketball team, and here is the latest. Playoffs started after we got back from spring break and we won our first game, leading us to the championship. It was a Friday night game that tipped off at 8 o’clock; a large crowd came out for support. It was neck and neck for the majority of the game, but our team finally pulled away within the last couple minutes to close with a win. It was a very fun season and ended with a fantastic game. As a prize for winning the AA Basketball League, the winners get a championship shirt. These shirts are highly desired and respected on campus, so winning them is amazing. With the termination of basketball, ultimate Frisbee begins this week. Hopefully the team does as well this season.
This past weekend was very active for my household, especially on Sunday. After Mass, one of the female households on campus, Stella Mariae, had a date day. It is common for households to have days like this where they invite dates to participate in festivities with their household. For this event, we went to the nearby park and had a picnic and played some games. It just so happened that at that very same park, the Franciscan University tennis team had a match. We got to watch some of the game, which was nice because my roommate is on the team. Following a great afternoon with Stella Mariae, my household had a joint-commitment with Totus Tuus Maria, another female household on campus. We prayed a beautiful Rosary together in one of the dormitory chapels. Being able to come together with other households, whether for recreation, prayer, or social purposes, is an enormous gift for this campus and always a good time.
I hope you have a wonderful Easter season as Holy Week is right around the corner.
Hi I’m Chris Pagano. I’m is a Business Finance major with a minor in Theology. I love to spend my busy days enjoying various activities on campus: household, swing dancing, studies, and much more. Each semester helps me to learn and grow in my life in many different ways and I am looking forward to seeing what this one holds.
