It has been quite some time since I have last shared with you and so much has happened. After I last spoke to you I went home for Fall Break. It was great to be able to be with my family and spend a few days in the comforts of my home. It was a very busy break and went rather fast, but I enjoyed it. After a few great days at home, I came back out to school. Academics haven’t been too crazy for the past couple of weeks. I have had some assignments and tests, but none that were on the same day, which was very nice. I had two tests, Corporate Finance and Intermediate Accounting, and an Organization and Management paper I am very excited about. I wrote it on Ethical Audits which I think are very much overlooked and are essential to a successful business. My classes are going very well, and Principles of Biblical Studies has been blowing my mind. We just went through the books of 1 and 2 Kings, Proverbs, Song of Songs, and Wisdom of Solomon. It was a powerhouse line-up and Dr. Bergsma, the teacher, did a great job opening our eyes to the significance of these books, especially in connection with the New Testament. It was awesome!
Intramural Volleyball started up, and we have a great team. The guys are a lot of fun to be with. In addition to the great team, the university just redid the basketball court in the Finnegan Fieldhouse where the indoor intramurals are played, and it is so nice. We now are able to have four games going at a time, which allows for more games. We have played three games and won all three – hopefully this streak keeps up. Since we are on the topic of athletics in the Fieldhouse, the basketball team had their first game a couple weeks ago, so it is custom for college teams to have a pep rally before the season starts. We had ours called Midnight Baron Madness. It was a pep rally consisting of games and competitions amongst students, and at midnight the basketball team was introduced and they had competitions amongst themselves. A large amount of the student body came out to support the team while Student Government gave out free pizza and soda, which always contributes to a great time.
In my college career, I have never been much of a coffee drinker. Interestingly enough, my roommate this year happens to be one. He likes to get together with some guys in the morning and have coffee while chatting about life. I participated in this event the other day, and I must say it was rather enjoyable. Dorm life is great for “get-togethers” like that. The other night, there was a coffee house in the J.C. Williams Center, and a group of us went up to the Assisi Heights apartments after where our friends baked us cookies and let us play Mario Kart. The dorm life has been a big contribution to my time here at Franciscan. It is a lot of fun and a great way to increase friendships.
Well that is a little of how my life has been. We only have about two weeks until finals. It’s unbelievable how fast this semester is going, but I guess that’s life!
Until next time,
